Picpoul de pinet

Just say it, Picpoul de pinet, doesn’t it sound effortless.

Please can I have a glass of chilled Picpoul de pinet…Ahhh  You are in the moment.

This is a wine from the Languedoc region in France, stretching along the Thau lagoon to the west of the Mediterranean’s Golfe de Lyon it is in fact  the largest white wine-producing area of the Languedoc.

The AOC Picpoul de Pinet vineyards cover some 1300 hectares (3000 acres)

It tastes of grapefruit, old-fashioned pear drops with a background of black pepper. perfect as a standalone drink or with some white fish.

The bottles are very distinctive, slim like a reisling, very green with a ridge at the bottom. This one was bought at our local farm shop. amazing !

If you fancy something a little different, try it. Best of all it is relatively inexpensive.

About Man et Vin

I am a 47 year old living in Nottingham. Maybe, like me, you have become disillusioned by the quality and variety of most wine that is sold in the UK. I am not anti supermarket or wine store but there must be more out there. Please join me on my journey to find decent good value wine. At the same time I want to find out more about storage, availablity and discover some of the lesser known wine growing areas. I have nothing to do with the wine industry, as it happens I am a middle manager in a financial services company.
