I began writing this blog to try to document my move away from supermarket wines to those from independant retailers, however, in recent weeks my head has been turned somewhat by Sainsburys and their Taste The Difference range.
It seems a long time ago that supermarkets were trying to tempt us to spend more by offering premium ranges of food and wine. Of course it’s quite the opposite now with even Waitrose offering an essentials range but these wines seems to fit between the two. It’s great quality and great value. The whites seem to be more successful than the reds though
Here are my favourites in no particular order
Gruner Veltliner £7.99
You would normally have to pay over £10 for this sort of quality
Bourgogne Aligote £6.99
You will remember from a previous post that I love Goisot Aligote but I can’t find that for less than £13.00
Petit Chablis £6.99
Cote du Rhone Village £6.79
Pretty potent at 14.5% but can cope with that level of alcohol.
Can you taste the difference ?
